News Title: Conway’s continued growth—anchored by the expanding Riverwalk—adds to the lifestyle appeal of living in the Grand Strand.
The City of Conway—and the iconic Conway Riverwalk—continue to grow and evolve, enhancing the lifestyle appeal of living in the Grand Strand.

People interested in buying new construction in or around Conway want reassurance that they’re not just buying a home — they’re buying into a lifestyle and a community. Conway offers an authentic small-town feel (that’s still growing). The City of Conway has a historic downtown with real character, not a manufactured town center. Conway has tree-lined streets, century-old buildings, and a community that values preservation. Conway offers a pace that’s calmer than Myrtle Beach, but far from sleepy. The Conway Riverwalk & Waccamaw River is a signature amenity for daily living, not tourism. The Conway Riverwalk & Waccamaw River area is ideal for walking, jogging, dog-friendly paths, river views, and community events – while also providing easy access to downtown restaurants, breweries, and shops.

The initial Conway Riverwalk originated back in the early 1990’s. Additional early phases added the Conway Riverfront Park, playgrounds, seating, landscaped area, docks, etc. making the Conway Riverwalk area a broader community space. The most recent Conway Riverwalk upgrades in 2023 to 2024 expanded the Riverwalk to extend the boardwalk further along the river and bridge gaps between downtown and waterfront areas.

For residents, the Conway Riverwalk isn’t a destination—it’s an extension of their neighborhood. It supports daily routines, social life, health, and community pride, making it one of downtown Conway’s most valued assets. The Conway Riverwalk is a walkable escape in the heart of town – residents can step onto the Riverwalk for morning walks, evening strolls, or casual bike rides without leaving downtown. The Conway Riverwalk is a natural setting along the Waccamaw River provides shade, breezes, wildlife views, and a calming atmosphere that contrasts with busy roadways and suburban sprawl.

In December of 2025, the City of Conway is now reviewing the latest plans for a new Riverfront Restaurant along the Conway Riverwalk and overlooking the Waccamaw River.

This new restaurant will be located next to the Bonfire Taqueria – a smokehouse style restaurant blending southern barbecue and Tex-Mex tacos. Bonfire Taqueria opened in 2016.

The new Riverfront Restaurant being planned will join a few other Conway Riverwalk area restaurants that have recently opened.

The Conway Outpost is a bar/restaurant that opened in July 2025. The Conway Outpost is part of the Conway Marina area on the southern side of the Conway Riverwalk.

On the northern side on 4th Avenue, just one block inland of the Conway Riverwalk is Palmetto Taps. Palmetto Taps is a self-serve taproom and bar known for offering a wide selection of craft beers, hard ciders, seltzers, wine, and other drinks, with many options available on self-serve taps so customers can pour their own drinks and pay by the ounce. Palmetto Taps opened up in July of 2024.
